This small natural lot from Marta Ribeiro is a beautiful example of how expressive Brazilian coffee can be. Grown on her farm, Sítio Santa Marta, in Pedralva, Minas Gerais, this Arara selection is clean, sweet, and fruit-forward with notes of red fruit, soft stone fruit, and a subtle licorice-like complexity. It’s full-bodied and approachable, but with far more character than we typically expect from Brazil.
Arara is a recently developed yellow-fruiting cultivar, registered in 2012, selected from parent trees in a grove of Obatã IAC1669-20 in Paraná. Obatã is a red-fruiting Sarchimor hybrid, later crossed with Catuaí to improve cup character while maintaining vigor, rust resistance, and productivity. This lot is especially complex for a Brazil.
